Xirrus partner Secure Access has installed an extensive new wi-fi network for Queensland theme park Aussie World.
Aussie World, located on the Sunshine Coast, sought a fast wireless network for both customers and employees – and commissioned its almost decade-long IT provider Secure Access for the job.
The wi-fi, now in place for two months, supports free customer internet access throughout the 30-ride park, along with front gate and point-of-sale systems.
“We think our guests will really be blown away when they connect to our wi-fi,” said Aussie World chief operating officer Aaron Flanagan. “Our goal is to put Aussie World on par with the most elite theme park destinations in the world.”
Secure Access business development manager Corrie Orpin worked in conjunction with Xirrus staff for the Aussie World project, which only took a week to go-live after a fortnight of requirements gathering.
Secure Access is currently ranked number 36 in the CRN Fast50, in honour of its 36 percent growth in revenue last year. Director Jason Garland told CRN that the service provider had already been using Xirrus’ technologies when Aussie World approached it.
“[Xirrus’] unique platform and exceptional features have lead to robust solutions for many of our clients,” he said.
The park hopes the fast wi-fi would encourage visitors to post their experiences on social media. As well as its rides, Aussie World is home to a tourist hotel, an events venue and a retail village.
Xirrus stated that future business functions such as RFID and ride analysis could also be accommodated on the new Aussie World network.
“Xirrus has opened the doors to an entirely new realm of what is possible with wi-fi in the park and we are incredibly excited about our future,” Flanagan said.
Aussie World, located in Palmview, won a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award last year. Secure Access is also a Sunshine Coast business, with its office in nearby Buderim.
The value of the project was not disclosed.
